20K Presented to Al Chymia Shriners
December/26/2012 13:07
On December 14th, Larry Nolan presented Al Chymia Potentate Tom Cross with a check for $20,000. The 2012 Memphis Rodders Reunion produced the largest charitable donation in it's history with the help of a lot of kind hearted supporters. The beneficiary is the Shriners Burn Transportation Fund, which directly helps pediatric burn victims in the local area by providing specialized medical transportation to Shriners Hospitals for Children that specialize in burn care.
The 2012 reunion was well attended with almost 350 attendees, each of whom contributed to the donation via the purchase of tickets, and by making bids for silent auction items. There was a marked increase in auction activity this year, and items donated by local artists and businesses added significantly to the overall tally. Of course, the continued support provided by the Memphis Street Rods, and the Memphis Classic Chevy Club made a profound impact on the bottom line.
In short, while we all find the reunion to be an enjoyable time to reminisce and reflect on history, helping such a worthy cause is a community effort that depends on each one of you. We cannot thank you enough for your support.
