When we put the wraps on the 2009 Rooder's
Reunion multi-media presentation, we had
more footage than time to show it. So,
we've decided to do a little more editing
and make a version with additional content
available to you for purchase.

Unfortunately, we have more sad news to
report this week. Well known Memphis drag
racer Bobby Rowe,
who left his mark on the escalating
development of funny car racing during
the 1970's, died last Thursday after a
prolonged illness. His achievements as a
driver came the old fashioned way... by
climbing the ladder of success from the
ground up.

Sadly, I just received news that
former Memphis Rodders member Arthur Trim
has passed away. Arthur enthusiastically
supported the reunion, and was obviously
proud of his days as a member of the club.
Arthur was also a valuable resource of
information for some of the articles on
this website, and provided much appreciated
commentary whenever he felt it was
justified. A memorial for Arthur will be
held in Conyers GA on September 19th. He
will be missed. Read

of Speed Week. Of further note, the Speed
Demon exited the course at a phenomenal 401
mph, thereby acheiving a long standing goal
that this team has held since day one.

I saw a story on WMC TV
News last week that sounds
like the same broken record we've heard
for years at race tracks all across the
country. Only this time, it's an attack
on one of the oldest continuously
operating dirt tracks in the country,
Riverside
Speedway.

One of the most unique race cars to ever

I'm always intrigued when a hot rod with a
history reasserts itself in the modern age.
Maybe you recognize this one? It goes way
back via the hot rodding time machine, and
has a long history associated with the
Memphis Rodders.

One of the more famous Hot Rod Magazine
covers ever was this May 1952 issue
featuring Dick Flint's track nosed 29
roadster, and some of the prevailing
teen-aged antics of six decades ago. I
wonder how it might look framed and hanging
on the wall of the den in this day and age?
